We don't live for very long. The longest living person is 122 years - a record held by a French lady. Hence the passing of knowledge to the next generation is very important. That is, education is the only way that humankind can progress into the next centuries or millennium. We cannot afford to be so particular over which methodology to use, and waste our time experimenting with frivolous "reinventing-the-wheel" methods. Whichever method that brings the maximum results of achieving the learning objectives is the best method. And the best method can only be discovered on the job by the educator himself - by the experience and practice of solving the problem of teaching itself, and the process cannot be "hijacked" by anyone who thinks that he is the best and so can bull-doze his own way into other people's brain.

I see a difference between intelligence and wisdom. He may be intelligent but he is clouded by his own arrogance from the truth or reality. To the extent that he cannot see the truth or the reality, he is a fool.

Quantum,

I like this part best:

"Is it the business of science to make a complicated subject look simpler, or a simple subject look complicated?"

Why on earth does the Singapore establishment worship fools and let them run our precious institutions?

Dr Always once said that objective reality does not exist. He said that knowledge is just a set of notes and agreements that result from groups of people coming together for a chat. I find this rather troubling. If there is no objective reality, what then are scientists studying and discovering about? Wouldn't science break down if there is no objective reality, and every reality is just subjective reality, just a mental construct out of individual whims and fancies? What then are the laws of physics all about? Can it still be called science if it does not refer to the real world and universe we live in?

He also said that why not we call current "K"? Why must it be "I". The problem is: if students graduated calling current "J", would they be able to communicate with the international body of scientists and engineers at large? Sure , we can just call electrons "ball-balls" , but can we communicate with other people in this field of knowledge? How can we advance a field of knowledge if we do not have a common set of language to describe things? Is it easier to communicate with standard conventions instead or ad-hoc conventions? Can students connect their own theories with standard theories?

Is it the business of science to make a complicated subject look simpler, or a simple subject look complicated?

Also, Deng Xiaoping once said: As long as the cat can catch rat, why care it is red or white? As long as a student reach his learning objectives, why do you have to insist on only one method? Why can't we use an arsenal of methods?

Yes, the strangest of all, the soldiers employed to do the training was not themselves trained by this method. Why?

You mean ST words can be counted? The main issue is why you make the decision for me when it comes to my money that I earn using my blood and sweat. It is like I put MY money in a private bank, the government also have some share of it. Dah!!!
